At the International Republican Institute (IRI), he played a key role in policy implementation and advocacy efforts focused on religious freedom and human rights in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on Cuba and closed societies.
Prior to that, he worked on Capitol Hill, serving in the offices of Congressman Dan Crenshaw, Congresswoman Maria Salazar, and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he conducted legislative research, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis on regional elections, intelligence, and governance. His experience working directly with U.S. policymakers and foreign stakeholders has given him deep insight into the intersection of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs.
Now at Continental Strategy, Gonzalo leverages his expertise in government affairs, strategic communications, and international policy to help clients navigate complex political and regulatory landscapes. His ability to provide geopolitical risk analysis, legislative tracking, and advocacy strategies makes him an asset for organizations seeking to engage with key decision-makers. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, he excels in cross-cultural communication and high-level diplomacy.
Gonzalo holds a B.A. in International Affairs with a minor in Latin American Studies and Portuguese from Johns Hopkins University, where he developed a strong foundation in international relations, economics, and public policy.
